Some places look beautiful in photos. Étretat is one of those rare places that’s even more breathtaking in real life

We kept telling each other, “This has to be the best view so far,” only to walk another five minutes and find an even more breathtaking one. Every viewpoint revealed something different. One moment we were looking down at hidden beaches, the next we were watching waves crash beneath towering limestone cliffs that have been shaped by nature for thousands of years.

It’s one of those places where you naturally slow down, take a deep breath, and simply admire the view
