Madmum Vaartkom

Madmum’s coffee bar at the Vaartkom in Leuven lives in the old Hungaria warehouse, and it might be the prettiest coffee stop in the city. The name is a tribute to the founder’s mum, and from one Leuven bar in 2018 they have grown to six spots across the city, with Antwerpen-Centraal next this autumn, taking over from Starbucks. We ordered two iced caramel lattes to go and we walked around the Vaartkom, past the boats, and the beautiful terrace fully submerged in the sun.

So that’s your choice there: settle in under the globes inside, underneath the sun (or shade) on the terrace, or take your coffee for a walk around the Vaartkom. Sitting or walking?
